REIGNITION
Hey. Been a while. One year to the day, even. Happy birthday, InfRev.
There's a lot of stuff I want to cover, and I decided the easiest and most succint to do it was to format this post as a Q&A. If your question isn't answered here, or if you want to know more, feel free to ask me in the comments, on twitter, or via entanglement tightbeam.
IS THE GAME FINISHED / HAVE YOU DROPPED IT?
Definitely not. There's still a lot I want to do. (Keep reading if you want specifics).
WHAT HAPPENED TO THE ROADMAP/UPDATE SCHEDULE?
A lot of interrelated things. Helping several of my partners move cross-country so we could live together, getting a new full-time job, unexpected illness, general life circumstances—it's been mostly positive changes, but the combined weight of them meant I couldn't dedicate nearly as much of my time to free updates for the game as I would like. The schedule I'd originally set was fresh off the high of releasing the game, and ended up extremely ambitious, even for me. I've taken down the blogpost with the roadmap in it, and future plans for updates will take a more realistic and measured approach.
WILL THE ADDITIONAL CONTENT OUTLINED IN THE ROADMAP STILL MAKE IT IN?
Definitely. Some of it's already there—the polish pass update (aka STARLIGHT EDITION) that I've been wanting to finish for a better part of a year is live on itch, right now. If you own the book, you can redownload it for free.
WHAT'S IN THE LATEST ITCH VERSION?
Layout polish updates, wording clarifications, a table of contents(!), balance tweaks, a reworked Aquarius core, a Tension Table for Ops play, and general revisions of the book to a baseline level of quality I'm satisfied with. I wanted to do this primarily as a favor to the people who showed early enthusiasm for IR and stuck with it through this weird ride of a year.
CAN I STILL BUY THE GAME?
You can. It's right here on itch for an updated price ($20), but you might want to wait.
WHY?
Sorry for the leading question. INFINITE REVOLUTION is coming to Kickstarter for a physical (and digital) re-release on August 15th, 2023.
WHAT WILL BE INCLUDED IN THE KICKSTARTER VERSION?
I plan on integrating the rest of the things I wanted to write (mission generation tables, a full GM section, more Veil statblocks, a completely overhauled Ops/Drive Pattern system, and more) into the updated, crowdfunded version of the game. I hope to release at least one (and hopefully more) ashcan/WIP versions as these revisions are written to gather feedback and impressions. My goal is for the eventual final KS edition to be the "definitive" version of IR.
WILL THE ITCH.IO VERSION BE OUTDATED ONCE THE KICKSTARTER VERSION IS COMPLETE?
Once fulfillment is finished and the digital version is locked in, the updated digital version will be available for purchase on itch.io.
WHY KICKSTARTER?
Discoverability, familiarity, and audience buy-in are the most important ways a crowdfunding platform contributes to a campaign's performance. For better or worse, Kickstarter is still top dog for all three. If you meant "why crowdfund in general?"—I currently work full-time, and the only way I'd be able to invest the amount of time and energy needed to update the book, handle shipping logistics, etc, is with the income crowdfunding provides.
IF I DON'T WANT TO SUPPORT KICKSTARTER, CAN I STILL GET A PHYSICAL COPY?
Yes. Assuming funding goes well, there will be an additional print run at some point after the campaign (specifics TBD).
IS THERE A PROJECT PAGE I CAN FOLLOW?

ANYTHING ELSE?
Infinite Revolution was was a lot of simultaneous firsts for me, and I'm extremely grateful for the support it's gotten and the experience I've gained. I want to start a series of blogposts talking about that experience, as well as (eventually) talking about the nitty-gritty of first-time running a crowdfunding campaign. I don't think I have a lot of Industry Wisdom to offer yet, but I want to be as transparent and informative as possible with the things I *have* learned, and what has and hasn't worked for me.

Ohhhh yeah!
Question: for those who got first flight, what access would they have to the updated base rules? Ignoring fancy things like (to use the roadmap for hypotheticals) an "Into the Veil" supplement?
I’ll be posting a “quickstart” version of the game that has most of the updated rules in a stripped-down format at some point, which will be free for everyone.
Pretty sure you copied parts of the seekers statblocks onto the blades, Saber and Lancer have the targets and damage of Chaff and Swarm
